Reflection of the Course so far
Before you can start your Final Major Project (FMP), you need to produce a reflection of each of the projects you have completed since starting the UAL course.
Reflect on, review and summarise your progress and achievements through the first 12 units of the qualification.
You should outline the knowledge, skills, and understanding you have acquired. What you know now, and what it means to you, compared with what you knew and could do before you started the course. This will be used to write a rationale for your choice of discipline or disciplines and your project proposal.
It also provides an opportunity for you to explain your reasons for choosing a particular discipline or discipline and to outline both your immediate and longer-term aspirations.
This will be the first stage of the FMP and it helps you with deciding on a brief for the FMP. If you like you can use a grid-like this to help you remember and structure your reflections:
Teacher/unit
Year 1/ 2
|
What went well? What did I learn/enjoy?
|
What was difficult? What do I need to improve on?
|
Induction
Year 1
| we learned persuasive techniques used in moving images such as adverts.
We worked on pre-production for an advertising film which we later on created. I already knew how to work on everything including production and post because I learned it in level 2. | remembering all the techniques names. |
Documentary: Amy
and Rob
Year 1
| With Amy we worked on moving image and sound, learning all the different types of documentaries and its modes, we produced a short documentary as an example so we could understand better what each documentary type contains.
With rob, he covered Specialist Practice where I got to search for different types of jobs in the media industry, learn more about it and decide what I want to study at university. Within the specialist practice, we worked on, entry-level job roles, media skills analysis, a reflection of working in the media industry and finally we worked on our professional media CVs. | it wasn't difficult and I don't have anything to improve on in this area. |
Photography: Scott
Year 1
| Scott covered Photography which we learned every type of photography like fashion photography, editorial, and advertising photography. we learned how to use each setting of the camera, how to control the shutter speed, the shutter speed and the depth of field. we did a research on photography and our favorite photographers so that we could use it as inspiration for our project. We worked on creative intention, our target audience, the output, constraints, and practices & influences. |
|
| Albion | Albion taught us about foley sounds and how to work with them, how impactful it can be in a moving image film. she also covered diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. She also taught us the basics of after effects and how to make something disappear from a scene and appear somewhere else. | working on after-effects for the first time was difficult, it is similar to premiere pro but knowing how to play with the tools around is much more complex than other Softwares I've used. I haven't used after-effects a lot so I think i need to improve on it a little bit more. |
Smashing
Stereotypes: Vanessa
Year 2
| In this unit we learnnt about masculinity, femininity and the waves of feminism. We worked on a project which we were put into groups and my group worked in a podcast,, I used adobe audition to edit and then we published to soundcloud. Working on a podcast has helped me understand how it is to work on radio and get more understanding of adobe audition.
